A day after Jeff Bezos downplayed Amazon's power, it posts record profit

And this is relevant how? Amazon stock price has been soaring this year, hundreds of millions of people stuck at home with stimulus checks and no stores to spend it in. It makes sense that they’re breaking records.

But the power you mention, how does this relate? People say money is power but not all power is created equally. People worried about a company becoming “too powerful” because it’s raking in big bucks yet have no problem with the government having complete power of you.

If there was ever a power take over attempted, you can be rest assured that the government would shut that shit right down, they want your dollars going to them and you following their rules. Not you following Mr. Bezos’ rules.

I think this whole “power” problem is just ridiculous IMO. That’s just an opinion.

People will reply with “well data is more powerful than money”. No, no it’s not. While Google and Facebook have countless data on the world population, you with your little social security number that you carry around has your address, photo ID, full birth name, financial statements, and so on. Not to mention your passport.

The world is moving to digital. Sooner or later there will be no physical ID. It’s a shift of data from governmental bodies to social networking companies.

At the same time, social networking sites aren’t necessary. You DO NOT have to sign up for twitter, you DO NOT have to buy stuff on Amazon. But YOU DO HAVE TO have a social security number.

Sorry for ranting, I’m a cranky fucker today.
