"Days of Our Lives" (July 19). Why are scenes of women forcing themselves onto men still seen as comedic if the opposite would be true when genders were reversed?

I also find funny that the (reasonable) notion that women shouldn’t be sexualized for the sake of sexualization was accompanied by the idea that it’s ok to sexualize men as a way of appealing to female audiences. I didn’t hear many complaints when Netflix used a bunch of housewives drooling over a shirtless Billy, a much younger guy, as a way of promoting Stranger Things. Lucifer’s marketing in my country also included the main actor shirtless. Or maybe a very cringy interview with Chris Evans and Scarlet Johnson with Ellen Degeneres where they had to answer a few questions about each other and all questions about Chris’ had a sexual undertone and were accompanied by pictures of him without his shirt (and both of them were clearly uncomfortable). Just to name a few examples. I can’t imagine such scenarios not being criticized if it were women. Not that I genuinely believe men are more sexualized than women, but can’t I think that if you advocate for something and proceeds to do or support this same thing when you’re not the target, it kind of diminishes your cause.
