I agree. Change is desperately needed. It just has to be executed in stages so we build up a solid foundation for success. Culture shifts are hard work.

If I could wave my wand I’d make a ton of changes today, some 6 months from now and then every 6 months after for probably 2-3 years. Chip away bit by bit, laying groundwork and then slowly turning the dangerous levers at the end with some pilots in certain areas to validate some assumptions for the more risky jail reforms.

I want immediate low hanging fruit success followed by well planned regular actions with mitigation’s in place to control any inadvertent impacts that will power the needed correction.
