Dealing with judgment from my mother for persuing professional treatment for my severe acne [me 23f with my mother 56f]

I'm 38 and only recently finally took hormonal treatments after 25 years of struggling with acne. If you can, clear yours up while you're still young and you've saved yourself the extra 17 years of self consciousness about it. Trust me.

My mother's voice is still deeply entrenched in my mind when it comes to my appearance too but over the years I've learned to make my own choices. You can and will too.

Also you're a grown-up now. You don't need to discuss your acne treatments with her, and I would recommend you don't. It will help you hold onto your confidence about your decision and save your relationship with your mom from some unnecessary stress.
