dear hello games.

A counterpoint to that would be “it’s absurd to suffer from burnout when the people you’re charitably helping are suffering from so many other things,” since we’re taking everything to the extreme no-time-for-recreation-when-others-are-worse here, but yeah, outside of this discussion I don’t subscribe to that mindset. Personal enjoyment shouldn’t be the driving force in anyone’s life, but it’s important to have some; self-care is vital.

Also agreed about some of the superfans here, but that seems to be the case with a great many interest groups. The infantilization of Western society is a blight, but NMS isn’t any better or worse than the other 493983 awful, juvenile things grown men dedicate inordinate amounts of their time to these days.

Personally, it’s the only game I play, so I don’t feel too badly about myself for it. Spending a gross amount of time discussing it with the update coming up, but whatever. Not a very admirable hobby, but a hobby nonetheless.
