Dear Redditors, What is a common belief that just simply isn't true?

So all of my adult life I’ve been in the military which is a public healthcare system however the finance and healthcare admin material I’ve studied has shown essentially when a person walks in they will try to perform as many unnecessary procedures as possible. Like if you go in for something simple they can go well it can be _____ and before you know it you’ll end up with an EKG/MRI/CT/D Dimer just the whole works because the insurance will usually pay everything past a point and very little will leave the individuals pocket. The insurance companies have someone that will negotiate each item down but the hospital still gets an unnecessary influx of money. And because of that many public insurance programs in an attempt to match the quality of the private insurance companies will just foot the bill sending spending through the roof.
