Like sterilizing poor people of colour and targetting them for that is still happening and it's guided by colonial thinking

In Canada, at least, the sterilization of indigenous people was committed by individual doctors because their patients were birthing a baby every year with each one of them suffering from multiple birth defects including Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and drug addiction.

Ultimately it's the fault of the state for their blatant neglect of indigenous welfare, but I still feel the need to clarify this since a lot of people seem to believe the sterilization happened because the white doctors were evil and secretly wanted to wipe the natives out.
