Sadly the mentally I've seen is that if you're not A (fair) then you're B (dark)

This is definitely true, a lot of the actresses considered dark skinned aren't dark at all (eg., Freida Pinto, Priyanka Chopra). Seendil Ramamurthy is often cited as an example of a dark skinned individual, but even he's not that dark skinned compared to many other desis. I remember superwoman did a video on being dark skinned, and one of the first things I thought was that she's definitely is not dark skinned.

There is nothing wrong with being dark skinned, but I sometimes feel that calling all these actresses/actors who aren't really dark skinned examples of dark skinned indians in the media/bollywood doesn't really help the underlying problem of colorism/discrimination in bollywood and india media, in general.
