Is a Degree Necessary?

If I can bother you for some quick advice, I'm currently taking an online HRM grad certificate, I'm at just about the halfway point, and anticipate finishing by the end of 2021 (taking it part-time). I have a BA in English, and a bachelor of education.

I know I want to end up in L&D, and I feel like my experience as a teacher (four years) will help me with this, but I'm struggling to figure out how to get my foot in the door in the first place.

So far I've been applying to Human Resources Assistant and Coordinator roles without much luck. I know it's hell out there for job hunting right now, but am I getting ahead of myself with applying to these places prior to finishing the HRM certificate? Are there other entry-level positions you could recommend I target in order to get the kind of experience you would look for when hiring?

Thanks!
