"A degree will give you more job opportunities"

Agree 100%. Undergrads out here majoring in things like bio that are basically meme degrees at this point (everyone knows they’re not worthwhile) and not putting in effort to do internships or just generally grow intellectually during college. Then graduate and are surprised they aren’t handed a job.

Is college hella expensive? Yes absolutely. But there are ways to do it cheap ( community college, living at home and going to a local state school, doing well on your SATs to get scholarships etc.) and it’s totally worth it for the right degrees ( engineering, comp sci, finance, pre-med etc). You also need to be able to look around, asses and pivot if necessary. I started as a freshman in one of those meme degrees and realized there was no future so I switched into engineering - great decision as I don’t know a single person in engineering that graduated without a job lined up in my class.

Go to college, but go about it intelligently and recognize it for what its worth: a place to grow personally and intellectually , make connections and hustle to find the right path for afterwards. If you think paying 40k and then just doing the bare minimum to pass and get a meme degree is gonna net you a great job then idk what to say.
