Delta under fire for appearing to suggest video games are better investment than union dues

Software Engineer that works at a relatively progressive company here, so I'm a special snowflake... our "merit" increases every year are set to the "what could this person get another job paying" rate, so I get pretty substantial raises every year (8-10%) because Software Engineers are more and more in demand.

My last company though, they basically just did "cost of living" increases. When I told them I had an offer from another company I didn't really want to take cause I liked my job, but it payed almost 50% more the CEO told me to my face "I'm not going to pay people to stay here, you have to want to stay here".

Well, guess which company is doing well and which has dissolved into a skeleton crew and is basically in panic mode of "can we sell our IP before we go under" mode.
