DP-12 has the same ammo...12 gauge 2 3/4 to 3". It is definitely more expensive though, but it is made extremely well. My 870 has performed just fine so I don't want to rag on them and say I know a bunch about it, but my understanding is Rem manufacturing has changed a good bit recently. I would recommend their ammo though. They make a home defense #4 buckshot with reduced recoil that runs 21 pellets vs 27+. They are even high brass rounds. The ammo is a relatively new product.
It does feel good with a nice spread in both shotguns.
