Democrat/Republican divide is worst it's ever been, and neither party can shoulder the blame, as it doesn't matter which party is in charge, finds a new study published in journal Social Networks.

You are correct about the majority of officers being college educated. But the amount of enlisted without high school degrees is not really size-able anymore.

The stereotype of enlisted that didn’t graduate high school is not really that relevant any more. More than 90% of enlistments are categorized as tier 1, which means they have a high school diploma.

Recruits that obtain a GED are classed as Tier 2, unless they have 15+ college credits. Tier 2 recruits are required to score 20% higher on their ASVAB than tier 1 recruits, and are competing for less spots than their tier 1 counterparts.

For example the army allows no more than 10% of their recruits to be tier 2 recruits. They’re the most open. Air Force limits it to 1%. Coast guard usually doesn’t even consider them unless they have prior service in another branch.

Tier 3, or recruits without a high school diploma or GED are exceedingly exceedingly rare, if not non-existent. I’m not sure that tier 3 even exists anymore.

If you meant GED holders when you said non high school graduates, then you are correct, and i apologize for you having to read this long ass reply! But a lot of people seem to think any ol highschool dropout can enlist. Interestingly, the GED was created for enlisted servicemen who were shipped off to WWII before they could finish their highschool education.
