Democrats tried to impose a three-fifths supermajority requirement for higher taxes, but AOC, Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal, Mark Pocan, and Jim McGovern all said no. Pelosi bowed to the left and withdrew the proposal.

I think she's aware the way the political winds are blowing. I'm in her distract and CA's new wildcat primary put her up against a slightly more progressive Democrat. I don't know what kind of campaign he ran (I don't even remember hearing his name before I saw it on the ballot, if that tells you anything), but he came within striking distance of unseating her with over 40% of the vote. No one talked about it, but I'd hazard a guess that may have gotten her attention that this insurgent force in the party is tapping into something real that's a force to be reckoned with.

I think she and the rest of the party heads were hoping things would go back to normal after Sanders lost, but two years later the left revival is still here and refusing to be ignored.
