I think they're just poorly misled to a large extent.

They're not just misled, they're literally brainwashed. They live in a separate reality. 57% of them think Trump won the election in a landslide and the Democrats stole it. They are fucking pigeons with the political memory and attention span of a pigeon.

Fox News has so successfully sold ~40% of the country their emotional narrative of cultural white Christianity being "under attack" by evil communist baby-killing Democrats that the only thing that matters is keeping Dems out of power. Those that are not literally white supremacists or QAnon hacks are beholden to those who are for the sake of stopping the "war on Christmas," they band together to stop the roving bands of BLM mob and transgender activists.

They have no real platform anymore; their platform for the last 12 years has been obstructionism, filibuster, gerrymandering, and stacking the courts. There is no compromise with them. The only way forward is turning out every single election and hoping to rally the numbers enough to shove us forwards for the two-year gaps where we can hold onto the Senate every second or third midterm.
