The dems always say that the tax cuts wouldn’t benefit the middle class. I would take a $4000 raise. Anybody else?

Nothing but sophistry, re-defining the meaning of words, and legal opinions can make the case for taxation being a good and desirable thing. Taxation is not good but it's least evil we know.

First of all, that's sophistry. You're basically saying that there is no way to make taxation seem desirable. There are so many things wrong with that statement: primarily, desire is a relative concept. Some people (like myself) enjoy having an all-volunteer Army, and some people (like myself) enjoyed being able to serve in said Army to make a living. To add to the list is that this is a borderline argument from ignorance fallacy: you're claiming that because you have not heard a convincing argument or that you cannot conceive of one means that the only way to convince people of the benefits of taxation is to somehow obfuscate the truth. That's ridiculous. People want an education, police officers, and a guarantee that when they're old and brittle they won't be left on the street to die. If they decide that the benefits outweigh the costs that doesn't make them wrong or deceived, it means that they have made the determination that is best for them.

Second, your argument tries to argue an absolute morality that simply does not exist. There is nothing inherently evil about collecting money from people within a domain to provide services to them, especially when they take advantage of those services daily and are not forced to participate in the systems that include taxation and are not even forced to remain inside of said domain. You could abscond to a culture somewhere outside of any civilized borders - but the reality is that you would still be required to contribute in some way to the prosperity of the whole, which is exactly what taxation is. Simply put: just because you dislike something does not alter the morality, necessity, or effectiveness of it.

Finally, I must stress again that this is the social contract for our country. Nations are founded as a point of necessity for these contracts - people like brokers and guarantors, and they certainly like peace of mind. If you don't, hey, good for you. But don't claim that systems of taxation are an absolute evil when large populations of the country want to participate in them so that they can sleep better at night.
