Desperately seeking some good advice about ADHD and joining the navy. would greatly appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this and help me

The recruiter is literally trying to save you time and prevent this roadblock in the process.

Here is my two cents. You are in a catch 22. I can see you are an anxious individual and I am sorry about your recent loss.

On one hand, if we go by all the regulations by the book, yes, if you disclose your temp. adhd diagnosis and adderall use, you'll be looking for a full stop on your process for a year or so until you get a waiver.
If you get it. Waivers are a crapshoot.

Now it is a recruiter's best interest to get you into the Navy. It is yours as well. Nothing about his advice is false. If you want to get in faster and probably in a more certain manner, do not disclose. Medical records are decentralized and they will not have a record on you until you provide it. So risk is not present until you give yourself away.

You do not say, or mark on any papers about any issues regarding adhd, anxiety, or the like. It brings up red flags. You do not break even if they act like they know. Especially during the boot camp moment of truth, you do that and you're done.

If you decide to not disclose. You will need to continue the act.

I am not here telling our advocating you to do anything, you decide that for yourself. I am only clarifying the situation from the recruiters mindset.

You're going into the reserves for God's sake. Once you're out of boot camp and your A school, you'll be doing drills on one or two weekends each month. Other than that you'll be a civilian.

So choose. Does your moral code against witholdin ginformation outweigh getting info the program asap? Or would you rather do it the proper way that'll take a while?
