Despite announcing he'd force GM to make ventilators, Trump hasn't ordered any

I understand this sentiment but as someone who works in the industry I don't see how anything could be done to make ventilator production happen any sooner. GM was already moving on this as fast as you possibly could. They started around March 22 and say they will have the first units done around the 13th. Considering the number of suppliers that had to cut dies to make all the parts that go into a ventilator, the production lines that needed to be designed, ordered, and built, the workers that need to be trained and finally the testing to make sure they're safe, 3 weeks is insanely fast. Unless the DPA can magically add hours to the day, it's not going to make a difference in the actual time it takes GM to build these. Hopefully it can help with the purchasing and distribution side of things.
