Detroits Miguel Cabrera gives young fan Bat and Gloves after fan talks smack after grabbing a foul ball

I'll answer why I love baseball. For me it started when I was a poor kid without a ton of toys and no siblings my age. I always had to befriend kids from around the neighborhood wherever I lived at the time. My mom bought be a used glove at a young age and from the ages of about 7-13 I spent countless hours playing hot box with anyone who would play. Then I eventually played city baseball and jr high baseball. I never played past the age of 13 but the love of the game stayed with me forever. I grew up a Twins fan and they won the WS twice in my childhood. In my teens I got away from paying attention to baseball as I was preoccupied with girls, learning to drive, partying, and a slew of other dumb shit. Then after I graduated the Twins had a resurgence and I started following the game again.

Baseball isn't for everyone, I get that. But if you grew up throwing the ball around or playing at any level, you usually don't lose your love for the game. I always hear people say it's boring or slow or whatever but that's baseball and that's the beauty of it. In my early 20s there was nothing better than hanging out with a group of guys, grilling up food, drinking beers, and watching the Twins. A great summer pastime. I love every single nuance of the game. I love listening to it in my car or on any radio if there's no TV around. I love getting stoned and just watching Must C clips on MLB.com. I love when I have to stream the game because I don't have cable and the only stream I can find is with the opposing teams announcers and getting a different perspective. For example Hawk Harrelson, lots of people hate him, but I love watching Twins-Sox games when the Sox are losing. You can't find better television than that.

I could go on and on forever about baseball but really it's like I said, its the nuances and subtleties that us baseball fans truly love about the sport. It can't exactly be put into words. If you didn't grow up a baseball fan/player and never had a favorite team, it's unlikely that you're going to be into it as an adult.

Oh and lastly, going to a ball game, particularly outdoors on a nice day, is about as good as you're gonna feel. If ya don't like that, ya don't like baseball. Move on.
