I mean, I just got silenced for 10 days. I probably deserved it, and I definitely told some people to fuck right off.
And I'll be honest, I'm not really sorry, and it will probably happen again (if I don't quit playing altogether) because I don't really believe I'm wrong. It's really easy to jump onto the "JUST BE NICE" bandwagon, because let's be honest, no one is going to argue with you and it's easy way of virtue signaling.
What people DO NOT acknowledge, however, is that you can be just callous and just as disrespectful to everyone on your team in the same manner by not saying anything at all. When all you play is attack Bastion and it doesn't work, and you constantly ignore anyone asking you to switch or work with the team, does that not also foster animosity, or at the very least, destroy any idea of teamwork in a game that's core is built around teamwork?
Is fucking over 5 other people in silence somehow better, just because we don't have any proof you're not doing it "on purpose"? They have, at the very least, demonstrated they don't care. Is this not "toxic" behavior?
People also seem to disagree that in Competitive, the goal isn't just "to have fun" - competitive means you here to compete, which means win. If you just want to "have fun", there are non-competitive modes for that. Telling people to "relax, it's a game for fun" in a competitive mode is just incredibly stupid. No, this game mode specifically is for people who want to be competitive not fuck around and lose games because they don't care.
TLDR - There are plenty of non-verbal trolls and toxic pieces of shit in Competitive, that are smart enough to know that as long as they don't use chat, they won't ever be caught or punished.
Until people acknowledge this as a problem, I'm probably just going to plant my flag in that camp, because playing healer and trying to get people to actually cooperate has proven to be a fool's errand.
