Devil's advocate: We were wrong to sell Kevin De Bruyne and we were wrong to switch Salah for Cuadrado - debate!

Okay...for the sake of discussion and your benevolent devil's advocate approach. I was really upset for a second there but I read your post and I respect what you're doing. So...

I'm a fan of the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL (hand-egg team, USA). They release tried and true veterans but we (usually) keep on winning because of the signings we make. We have a fantastic manager named Ozzie Newsome who makes brilliant signings. It's gotten to the point where he's been right so many times (Justin Forsett, a nobody veteran that guided us to the playoffs, this past season IN, Jacoby Jones, a great receiver and kick returner, this offseason OUT) that we've adopted the phrase "In Ozzie We Trust". This came after losing many of our talismans or fan favorites because Ozzie thought they were surplus to the salary cap (think FFP). And for the most part, he's been right.

I typed all of that because of the parallel with Chelsea. Mourinho and the board know the type of players we need and if they will fit in the system. As much as it killed me I can understand why he let Mata go. Price aside, Oscar is a like-for-like substitute and offers so much more defensive contributions. Luiz for 50 mil?? You can't turn that down. Salah was probably in the top 3 fastest Prem players but he couldn't finish (in England). He's doing great now - which I love - but he wasn't good enough for a top 4 Prem team. Schurrle ....I don't know what happened there except he seemed to always be shooting instead of passing to a better positioned Costa. Sturridge-esqe you might say. Trying to earn his place in the side at the detriment of the team. I should say still I'm a huge fan of his and hope that he as well finds success.

Cuadrado, I hope, will justify his price tag. Willian seems to be a Ramires but with better defensive skills yet terrible finishing. Cuadrado didn't impress out of the gate but I'm sure he has some magic in him that we just haven't seen yet.

What I want to know is whether we'll pick up another CDM after going through what we did. Or can Ake play there?
