That is a good analogy, but isn't directly comparable to this situation. It's more like wanting to see a loved one achieve something. Like getting that job that recently went into an interview for, or being accepted into one of the colleges they were striving for.
I knew this was going to be brought up, but that isn't a good counterpoint. Smash Ultimate really is a phenomenon that hasn't happened before and something we are all lucky to be witnessing. The biggest fighting game and the biggest crossover in history. Sakurai himself said this barely was able to happen this one time and it won't be able to happen again.
