Diagnosed today. Glad to have a script but less than impressed with the doctor. Bit of a rant follows.

Good to be aware of your situation and catch it early. I know you're "ranting" but am curious.....

Assuming you are Type 2, and the people you referenced in your life, both currently and who have died -- have all been Type 2 as well? What will you do about for treatment (besides get another doctor)?

I know a lot of Type 2s, and feel like it's hard to get them to do any investigation about treatment plans, diet plans, or anything beyond their doctor's office or what they might catch here and there in the media. They are all on meds -- some on multiple meds. Some have made no lifestyle changes at all, and a couple have changed their diet and activity levels, but only mildly.

As a Type 1, I completely changed my life on Day 1. And am always looking for new research and comparing ways to approach treatment and lifestyle. Insulin resistance can also be a problem for some of us, too. And I know for sure that dietary changes and fasting on occasion can bring my glucose levels into normal ranges and lower my insulin dosages. I come across a lot of interesting info about Type 2, and try to pass it along to them for feedback, but it kind of "falls on deaf ears."

What do you plan to do, or know that works to stay healthy and keep glucose down?

This guy has a lot of interesting theories on insulin resistance. Have you seen his speeches? I cannot get any of my acquaintance to sit still for 30 minutes to know if it makes any difference or not.
