Diagnosed with Parkinson's at 34. How do I plan for the future?

I watched my grandpa experience Parkinsons until he eventually passed away - he was 80. Although his last few years were rough at times, he was absolutely still able to live a full and meaningful life with Parkinsons.

My first thought on seeing this post, with having watched a family member deal with it, and with having a non-progressive but extremely poorly understood brain/CNS disorder: do your own research. The worst thing you can possibly do is blindly trust that your doctors recommendations are the be-all end-all, best-it-can-be suggestions. For-sure, see specialists and follow their advice. But you need to be proactive, and be your own advocate.

I've seen that some of the new technologies and methods for treating Parkinsons are truly amazing. Don't be afraid to ask your doctors about them.

It sounds like you're on the right track, financially. I would like to parrot what someone else said - see what is possible as far as your wife taking classes to further her career, this is one of the best possible moved you can make for both yourself, her, and your kiddo.

Having to live with a body that attacks itself is not easy. Remember to take of yourself, too.
