Did Aircraft Really make Battleships Vulnerable?

at least through WWII, afterward it became much less tenable

What I was thinking was that while aircraft carriers proved they could do much more for their expenses vs a battleship, aircraft limitations in WW2 meant that there were still situations where a battleship could be useful (albeit not justifying making any more), moreso in the much less forgiving North Atlantic; it was after the war where further improvements to aircraft, such as jets, all weather and night ability, and the proliferation of guided weaponry that basically plugged the remaining gaps in carrier capability, along with a lack of potential enemies worth keeping a battleship for (Stalin wanted a big gun fleet but he died before it could happen) spelled the final death knell for the remaining battleships that haven’t been scrapped yet besides the US’ Iowas.

Tldr further improvements to aircraft in the early Cold War eliminated remaining justifications for keeping battleships
