Did anybody else feel the same?

I'm also extremely introverted, always dread meeting people no matter who or where. However, my fiance is the total opposite and so are his friends. You can't and shouldn't change who you are, and what your bf said about you regarding this is somewhat mean tbh... As his gf, he also has to take the initiative in trying to include you in their conversations. Like, for example, bringing up things you are interested in instead of him only interacting and conversing with what he and his friends are interested in. If he helps you in that way, then you won't have to force your brain to come up with things to keep the conversations going.

I wouldn't say I turned into an extrovert, but more like I flip an "extrovert" switch when I'm around them. If it's topics I don't really know or have no experience with, I usually listen and ask them questions like "what does this mean?" Or questions to make it easier for me to understand. They end up talking more, and I end up not having to talk again for a while (lol). Win-win for me.

Sorry if I didn't help too much but I hope you got the idea.
