Did anyone else deal with parents thinking you faked injuries for attention?

I had a stingray puncture my foot and my mom kept saying there are no stingrays there and I’m faking it. She insisted it was a seashell. Wasn’t until I blacked out and vomited that they reluctantly gave me an ice pack. Some other family who we didn’t know came up and said I needed to go to the hospital. My cousins were trying to help me and she was telling them I was faking it. They said she got pissed when the hospital got back to her. At least I got closer with them now that they see the shit I put up with.

My brother on the other hand complains and can just skip school for weeks, gets multiple therapists. Now they’re codependent assholes who nobody can stand. She turned him into a giant mentally Ill baby. I honestly prefer the neglect and disdain seeing how he turned out.
