Did anyone else never think about what your wedding would be like? I'm engaged but I don't even know what I want vs. what is expected. (confused/scared rant)

I never dreamed of my wedding when I was growing up, so when I got engaged, I wasn't really sure. I knew I wanted to get married and probably wear a dress and have good food, but nothing beyond that.

I'm getting married in October and not being more thorough with what I/we wanted has been my downfall. We went from wanting an small casual backyard BBQ to 200+ people in a massive hall. Our parents just got so excited and we didn't really say no to anything until we realized it was too late. We have accepted it and are happy to just be getting married (since that's what matters at the end of the day), regardless of how it ultimately happens.

I suggest really thinking about what you both want and sticking to that as much as you can before you talk to others about it.
