Did anyone here join the Security sector after getting out?

Regarding skills, that's the problem that everyone faces trying to get into the market. If you don't have the skills already then I really wouldn't bother trying to get them, except for medical skills.

There are a number of courses around the world, most significantly in the US, that offer packages that purport to give private security training. 99% are a joke. And, if you are looking at high end security work, even that good 1% will be dismissed. What people are looking for isn't the training but experience. If you don't have relative experience then don't bother.

Med is a different, there are few courses that are very highly regarded and sought after. Mostly from South Africa. Forget about thinking that just very good med skills will get you a job. Nobody (that I know of) can afford a package that has an exclusive medic. Saying that the US Pres does, so perhaps Bill Gates and like do. But then its going to to be an MD.

The corollary to all this is lower end stuff. The level of expertise and experience is commensurately lower. Again, look at what skills you possess and go from there. Also, the transition from lower end work to high end work, is near impossible. I don't know anybody that has done it. 2 reasons, this is a fairly healthy market (especially at the moment) there are always new people with good skills sets coming into the market, so there is no shortage. Secondly, and I suspect the real reason (okay I know its the real reason), is that your experience is like a brand, if you have a good brand you'll get the top jobs. More than anything, just so the principal can brag who they have around them.

Is you username any indication of level of experience? If so that will help.
