Did you take it easy at first or did you have to learn the hard way.

I picked up my GT last Friday. Over the course of an afternoon I went from never have balanced on a skateboard to weaving through the nearby exhibition grounds. After about 5 hour, inspired by very dead legs, I called it a night and took the paved lakeshore path back. Enjoying my new toy I started to zen out with the setting sun, getting ready to end a perfect day I realized something, I’m trembling terribly. I came back to reality, I realized I was going way too fast, panicked, I put all my weight back, not expecting the push back I through myself forward off the board… I went straight onto my knee spinning around only to bounced the back of my head off the pavement…

No pads, no helmet…

Got luck I wasn’t hurt more than a scraped knee, definitely learned to respect the board, and picked up some proper gear.
