Did you ever seriously think about dropping out? [Vent]

Yes. Preclinical years are so hard/stressful and everyone tries to put on a happy face but so many students experience peaks of anxiety and depression and lack of motivation - not everyone but a significant amount. I used to fantasize about running away from school and hiding out in the middle of nowhere near some mountains or living in Europe - and I felt worse for even having these feelings because medicine was suppose to be my passion. Anything to get away from where I was. Things got so much better after step 1 was out of the way, and while third year is no picnic, things did get better and now as a fourth year, I’m walking on sunshine after step 2 CK and CS and apps were in lol. Seek some help from the mental health likely offered by your school, try to find things that can “recharge” you, even if it’s small. But do these things daily. Take control. Don’t neglect self-care. Hang in there and know that things get better.
