Why did you join XR? What have you learned? What would you do differently if you were 'in charge'?

Just so you know, I didn't downvote you. I got downvoted too.

I have my own thoughts about what the future of humanity will be like but it's different from how Roger and Gail describe it. Here is what Roger said in his manifesto:

"The Rebellion has to morph at the last moment into a general rebellion against ‘all government failures’ in order to catch the regime off guard. This prevents opposition from framing us as just ‘environmental protestors’ and therefore a ‘special interest’ group. A key miscalculation which elites repeatedly make with uprisings is that they think it is just about one issue or group, not anticipating how rapidly it can change into a general rebellion against the all-encompassing illegitimacy of corrupt elite power. Our plan must include actions to proactively promote this overarching narrative."

pg. 48

Here is the full manifesto.

I suppose failing by making XR ideologically unplatatable is also a good way to 'fly under the radar'. I know a lot of (I would say unhelpful) people like to dream of XR leading to their preferred extreme utopian societal transformation. I would rather they wait until XR is victorious with the basic demands, then they can start on phase two without us having to worry about run-away global heating and mass species extinctions.

This seems to be another clever mechanism to recruit young idealistic people who feel left behind by the present economy. There is a growing tension between the classes around the world. I can see a lot of Marxist philosophy baked into XR and it's interesting from a sociological perspective but also unsettling after today's tube incident.
