“Either take it at face value or google it” I believe it sounded dismissive because they added what subreddit we’re on. Some subreddits are more suited for factual data and links, this isn’t really one of those subs.

The argument for why a person who is making a factual statement should not be required to back it up is that there is no obligation. Making a factual comment that someone else can verify through their own research is valid. You can say something factual and still be right without providing a link.

Also, the link you posted sort of goes against your stance on providing articles. If more than half of reddit doesn’t click on a link, then there’s no reason someone making a factual comment should be required to back it up. People aren’t opening the link anyways right?

But in all sincerity, I don’t see a harm in what the commenter said. I think if people really want to know if something is true, do a little digging yourself, you learn some cool stuff that way!
