Did your parents let you swear in conversations with them?

As a child? Absolutely not. Well, my mother for sure, but my father would probably just say "Don't speak that way in front of your mother."

My mother is 50% Irish, 50% German, grew up in a very religious, proper household. If I cursed in front of her, I might get a slap. If I took the lord's name in vain, however, I'd DEFINITELY get one. "Darn" or "dang" was pretty much the limit. Now that I'm a grown man, it doesn't really matter as much. If the situation calls for a curse word I probably won't get reprimanded, but generally I try to avoid it still because it might make her feel bad.

My father is the son of a Navy sailor, and a second gen. construction worker. He and my Uncle (also a construction worker) can come up with some of the most bizarre, remarkable strings of swears I've ever heard, with one exception: my Grandfather. I've only heard him let rip full steam once, at a Costco when the door checker gave him some undue grief, but it was such a brutal burn, so filthy and shocking, that you would swear the guy's asshole clenched so tight he was about to form a localized singularity.
