Didn’t he uhh.... abolish slavery?

What you used just there is called the slippery slope fallacy ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slippery_slope ). Just because this instance wherein Lincoln's name is being removed is stupid doesn't mean its caused by taking down statues.

Other than the fallacy you are making a wonderful example of, there are also several more points where you have made a mistake in your comment.

Let's start with the word "historical" which in this context is often used in a way that is misleading or misunderstood. You see, a majority of statues depicting confederates are not really of historical value or importance, most of them were made between 1890 and 1950 during Jim Crow segregation for the purposes of supporting anti-civil rights mentality and glorifying states rights to maintain Jim Crow. Most of the statues and memorials that were made immediately after the Civil War focus on soldiers and their sacrifice (often posed in a way that explains the way the soldiers were tricked by malicious power hungry traitors, and that their lives were wasted by their leaders). So you see the "historical value" argument of confederate statues is by far the most ridiculous, because these "monuments" were not real monuments they were propaganda and weren't built to honor anyone who deserved to be honored they were meant to consolidate power. Remembering these propaganda pieces can sometimes have value yes, but should not be honored the way they are, they should be kept in museums with the relevant propaganda context, not kept in state parks and capitals and city centers.

This brings us into another point you don't quite mention as you should. You see these statues are depicting traitors. These statues glorify the single least American thing you can do which is actively and militarily betray your country. Now why did they betray their country? Was it because they loved their country and felt their leaders were no longer acting in its best interest? Was it for some justifiable reason? No it was because these wealthy land owners wanted to continue to OWN other people. They started a war that cost over half a million american lives because they wanted to own black people. These people don't deserve the honor they are shown in the placement and glorification of these statues, these statues should torn down and vandalized because they are active detriments to human rights. The Berlin wall was torn down, nazi symbology and art was torn down, some things should be destroyed.

Oh and please don't bother with the whole "the civil war wasn't about slavery" bs, because it was. In the confederates own words they left the union to protect their "peculiar institution" of slavery. And if you do think this please read this article and watch this video.

Anyways goodnight and I truly hope you can examine your beliefs with an open mind, because no matter your politics treason is treason and as someone with relatives who have fought for this country I would rock some tunes while I shit on any confederate traitor's statue.
