Why didn’t republicans experience a backlash for overreach during Obama’s time in office like Clinton’s and Biden’s?

2022 is probably an outlier for 2 reasons, neither of them are because of overreach.

  1. The supreme court overturned roe. This is important because it happened during Democratic controlled government, a rare scenario where massive, sweeping changes happened to the country peopelled by the party currently out of power. So, for the average American it felt like the GoP was still the ones disruptive to thier life, the ones with too much power upsetting the status qou, despite the Democrats being in charge.

  2. Lots of low quality GoP canadaties, despite what reddit believes republican votes wont just lock step vote for a jar of mayo with R next to it. When you try to get objectively bad candidates elected it's hard to do. Just ask Roy Moore
