This was my first Record Store Day, but there wasn't anything I was really interested in. In the spirit of the day however I decided to get out early and look for some records. I went to an Estate Sale, a couple of Op shops and a garage sale.
Here in Australia buying vinyl can be a particularly expensive venture and I was happy with what I got for the price (around $50 AUD for these). I got...
Roberta Flack - Killing me Softly
Trying to branch out with the genre of my records I picked this up. Love it especially the title track and the cover of Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne" on side 2.
Lou Reed - Sally Can't Dance
I love love love Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground but have never heard this record or a song on it. Unfortunately my amp has died and have not yet listened to this one yet, very much looking forward to it.
George Harrison - Got My Mind Set on You 12" Single
Love this cover by George Harrison and there is a nice extended mix on this single. The quality is really really nice, I think I'm gonna try and pick up more of these big singles. Super cool.
The Beach Boys - The Fabulous Beach Boys
This is what they released Pet Sounds as in Australia for some reason. One of the best albums of all time and I don't think the guy selling it realised it was Pet Sounds otherwise I'm sure he would have priced it much higher.
Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA
Obviously I've heard a couple of tracks from him but I've never properly listened to Bruce Springsteen, so I got this record. Looking forward to listening to it.
Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1
Was very very happy to find this as I grew up on this album from the best supergroup of all time! Love every song on this and the record is in excellent condition. Will be spinning this one a lot.
The Marquee: 30 Legendary Years of Music
Great compilation featuring Bowie, Queen, Hendrix, the Who, T-Rex and so many many more. Pretty much everyone who is anyone played at Marquee (except the Beatles) in its prime. What I would give to go back in time and watch some of these legends play...
Lindisfarne - Fog On the Tyne
A great folk rock band I don't see discussed on here (or anywhere really) much. If you want to get into them I would suggest starting with this record, fantastic and not a skippable track imo.
Thanks for looking!
