diet!!!

I have a betta and am new to fish keeping as well! I will be keeping an eye on this post!

Since I see you have a 5 gallon planted tank, I’ll assume you have a cycled tank.

What I do is feed my beta a pinch (and I mean a pinch a small pinch) of frozen blood worms OR freeze dried blood worms OR Fluval Bug bites every morning. I’m also thinking of getting him frozen brine shrimp cuz I like to spoil him and give him a variety. As long as they’re stomachs aren’t concave or they look like they are starving (don’t be fooled. Just because they eat like they’re ravenous doesn’t mean they are starving. Think dogs. They want to get fat.) So far he’s pretty happy and healthy and zooms around my 10 gallon aquarium like a curious puppy. It’s super cute when he flares his fins at me or when I put my hand above his tank and he shoots for the surface.

I’ve heard that it’s better to let the fish starve for a little bit than to overfeed them. Also, careful what food you get and read the labels. Some foods could puff up in the fish’s stomach and make them float or get sick. This is all horror stories I’ve heard so do your research.
