The difference between running as a man vs as women when it comes to harassment and safety

you replied to my comment and quoted things that I didn't say

I actually realized that now, that I haven't made it clear enough: The whole comment was meant to address the view that the author put forward in his article, not yours. To be honest, out of the whole text, only the first and the last paragraph directly relate to what you commented, what is in the middle is a mixture of me lashing out and me trying to connect the 2 paragraphs meant for you. If it relates to something you didn't say, it's not for you.

and those are the assholes you should be pissed at.

But I'm not. I and only I decide who I'm pissed at, and at the moment, assholes that catcall women don't really have a high priority on the list.

They have made it almost imposable for a guy like you to approach a woman without her immediately putting her guard up.

Actually, I think this depends of the circumstances. If you are at a social event (i.e. bar, club party) where people are expected to socialize I don't think it matters at all, since a woman will automatically assess you anyway, and if you fail to meet her standards, then you're fighting an uphill battle. However, I do agree with you that it would make it harder to approach a woman on the street (although still doable)

feminist, which is the belief men and women should have equal rights

I actually agree with you on this one. However, therein lies the problem. With rights also come responsibilities and consequences, something feminists conveniently forget.

Its bullshit and it victimizes both men and women alike.

I don't really understand what you're referring to.

Your low blows aimed at the OP calling her "him" does absolutely nothing to make the situation any better.

I called OP "him" for a reason. Because he's a man. I don't care what he identifies as. If I say I identify myself as the POTUS, do you think I'd be allowed on Air Force One? If I said I identified myself as a black man, do you think I could throw the word "nigger" around and black people would have no problem with it, because "he black"? Do you think fitting an "Aston Martin" badge and Recaro seats on a clunker actually makes it an Aston? Fact is, you are what you are born, and that's that. Chopping your penis off and pumping yourself full of female hormones won't make you a women in the same way you learning French won't actually make you a French person. Also, I don't know where you see low blows to OP?

Also, I'm sorry to hear about your mother/aunt. I know this kind of shit happens. I know it's horrible, but what can one do? Horrible people will exist until the end of times. But you also have to understand that fear needs to be proportional to the actual danger and the chance of it happening. Do you live every day in fear because Obama is the Antichrist and will bring about the end of the world? I'm sure you don't. Yet there are a lot of people who are. We call them paranoid, because they take something and blow it all out of proportions.

Another, better example: think at the Ebola scare. Do you live every day in fear of Ebola? I mean, Ebola has some nasty consequences (I think we both agree that dying sucks), but do you wear a hazmat suit to the grocery shop? Probably not. However, if I made it my purpose in life to make you scared, I could. Just repeat to you 5 times a day how Ebola is spreading and you will become scared. And that fear will eventually consume you, which is pretty much what OP is talking about. However, it is up to him/you/one to control one's fears instead of dumping them on the rest of society like a cart full of manure. Afraid to run alone at night in dark places? Completely justified. Afraid of every single man/runner/child/your own shadow? Paranoia. I swear, after seeing the world as described by feminists, I can only reach the conclusion that, as a woman, you cannot even make it to the grocery shop without being raped a couple of times.

Fear comes from a real place. Paranoia doesn't. Word.
