A different perspective on "lack of endgame content"

Maybe Bungie wants the focus to be on playing the game and not on the statistical analysis of load-outs.

That's fine, but it's hard to deny it kills motivation to grind for things. If all you want is the Crucible set, the second you get it, the Crucible has nothing worthwhile in terms of drops, besides exotics.

There are 5 activities that should take about 10-12 hours per week to get the powerful reward per character.

It depends on how long you take and which ones you focus on, but if you don't bother with something like trials and get the raid down, you could do it under four.

Maybe Bungie intentionally wants 'endgame' to not be an endless grind required.

Again, that's fine, but people like some sort of progression. I could play for 10 hours today and likely accomplish nothing, where as I can play for four hours tomorrow and at least increase my light by one level.

Maybe these will be the prestige activities we haven't seen yet?

Unlikely. You can look at the prestige Nightfall and see it's just a higher light and slightly harder version of something that exists.

If you want to comment that "you just don't get it", you're right, please explain what this opportunity is for hardcore.

Let me put it like this. You have a circle, even if 80 percent of Destiny is casual, there should be something that caters to the 20 percent not included. Instead, Bungie gives us something for hardcore PVP players (Trials) and the rest is built with casual players in mind.

I'm not saying Bungie needs to make a raid that only 1 percent can experience, but I am saying they should add something for every skill level in PVP and PVE, which is something a lot of popular MMOs do.

Teamwork matters more for the endgame: raid, trials and timed nightfalls all appear to require teamwork and good communication over load-outs.

The same can be said about Destiny 1 too.

Is there a killer weapon that just makes the need for teamwork wash away (aka "no need for a team, I have gjallarhorn")? No - well not yet

If you know how to work the burns or set up situations, you can melt Nightfall bosses in seconds, use unlimited tethers, it's hard to deny Merciless is probably the best weapon in the game, etc.

TL;DR: Maybe D2 is intended to have a slower rhythm for the endgame that doesn't require part-time job types of hours to stay current.

Honestly, it didn't take much to be raid ready in Destiny either. There were people that requested guns and levels, just like Destiny 2 will have that, but Destiny went from being a game that you could do anything without the perfect gear, with the option to chase after it, where as Destiny 2 gives you the perfect gear with content that doesn't even need it.

Once I hit the current cap, I can basically not play until something is added and not miss a beat. For some this is great, but anyone looking to work towards something, it sucks.
