Different types of head coverings worn by Muslim women

My problem with the 'it's okay if it's her religion' argument is that

1) women are brought up to think this is modest, that's a hell of a "free will choice" they have there

2) it shoves the responsibility to the religion and ensures men can still oppress the women in their households and call that just living out their religion. Beating your kids is wrong even when your religion allows it, shaming your daughters into feeling unclean or like future rape victims without a hijab is too.

Women don't need live were you're jailed for not wearing a hijab to get trained to want them.

And while I'm sure there are women with the cultural understanding and self-reflection required for an informed choice that are still choosing to wear them, it's just not so easy to brush concerns aside once someone say "oh I'm not forced to wear it. I'm doing it for God."
