So when they test a phone or device, they are testing the phone or device. Having a newer SoC does not mean it performs the exact same across the board. The benchmark software operates in userland, unless the device is rooted and bootloader unlocked. So it must use userland operations and Xiaomi is up there with Samsung with adding extra cruft to appear faster, but is just eating up resources. They have the same attitude of "throw more hardware at it" instead of solving the problems they create.

I would like to what I'm fanboying so I can properly support it in every comment. I'm not a "true fan" of anything. True fans are the problem because they let themselves believe marketing hype.
