Dirk is 20 points shy of 30,000 career points. He has a chance to join Wilt, KAJ, Malone, Jordan and Kobe as one of the few elite scorers to reach that milestone. Next game: tomorrow vs LAL.

While Dirk doesn't win a ring on that horrible T-wolves squad, I dont think KG goes to the finals in 06 or 11 on the Mavs. You're underrating Dirk's offense, because he's not just about stats. If PPG was everything, there would be very little difference between Dirk and prime Amare, or Blake Griffin, or Cousins right now. But Dirk was an offensive anchor, who forced double teams far away from the rim and allowed the rest of his team to play 4 on 3. Think of the way Steph Curry made his teammates better the last two years. That is why Dirk's teams always won 50 games.

The difference between Dirk and KG on offense is actually pretty similar to the reverse comparison on defense, because KG was one of the 2 or 3 legitimate defensive anchors, and Dirk was one of the equally rare offensive anchors. There's a huge difference between a guy who creates such gravity that he makes the game easier for his teammates and a guy like Carmelo. When people make the "KG was pretty close to Dirk as a scorer argument" they're missing the fact that in terms of scrambling defenses, Dirk was more like Shaq than Amare or Melo
