Disabled and want to open an Etsy shop

Disclaimer: I’m not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. But you may want to:

  1. Reach out to others who are selling and do some research. How are their sales and what’s the actual profit margin. Is this site already over saturated with people crafting the same items you are? ... etc.

  2. Next, if business is still viable reach-out to the Nevada Secretary of State and see what actually constitutes a business which is required to obtain a license. A. https://www.leg.state.nv.us/75th2009/Bills/AB/AB146_EN.pdf
    B. The term “Business” does not include: (c) A person who operates a business from his home and whose net earnings from that business are not more than 66 2/3 percent of the average annual wage, as computed for the preceding calendar year pursuant to chapter 612 of NRS and rounded to the nearest hundred dollars. C. Find out what 66 2/3 percent of average annual wage is.

  3. Evaluate actual costs to run this business: Materials, supplies, shipping material etc. What is your actual profit margin?

  4. Seek legal advice if project profit will exceed near or over 66 2/3 percent of average annual wage.
