The Disappearing Male (2008) - "The estrogen mimicking chemical Bisphenol A common in our environment is feminizing men. Effects of this are increased baldness, enlarged male breasts, drop in sperm count, and a wide range of health issues. Our environment is changing us into a new gender"

I never heard of this until now and I'll take you're word on its lack of credibility. Still I watched it to draw my own rational conclusions, as I've been following any and all research associated with male development since the early 90s with the book The War Against Boys that first opened my eyes. There are moments of alarming truth in this expose effort. The anthropological and social psychology research is not without merit. Beginning in the late 1950s, there was a marked increase noticed in developmental and learning disorders in all children, but appearing 2 to 3 times higher in males. At first it was attributed solely to social values turning more towards supporting female advancement and school curricular conflicting with male learning attributes. However, the increase in cancer deaths, depression and suicide among males of the baby boomer generation has entered into the debate in the past 20 years. While there are many dynamics to consider, there is mounting evidence from the study of Behavioral Epigenetics that males - particularly apparent among blue collar - that exposure from a myriad of synthetic chemicals is causing irreparable damage and alteration in DNA. It's not surprising that most of these studies are done outside the US in France, Germany and Amsterdam where corporate regulation has a greater upper hand and lacks the lobbying consortiums to suppress independent studies. In North America, these studies are well suppressed by chemical and petroleum corporations - reported as footnotes in the media. Yes, I share some indifference to the fact that a documentary on males is produced by female journalists with more focus on how mothers are affected emotionally, and with no exploration into how young men's lives may already be effected and impaired. On the other hand, 25 years ago the growing female-driven journalist corp gave not one flying fuck about the social or medical concerns of the male, nor how it also affected the concerns of women as well. This documentary - among other sources I'm following - is indication that a social shift is definitely occurring.
