Disappointed in the way Vaush handled the Kink at Pride discussion

I haven't watched the segment and I'm not going to because I spent so much of my young adult life arguing against the stuff that you described in your post that it simply is not worthy of my time any longer. If Vaush finds himself agreeing with GWB-era neocons about what Pride is like he should ask himself why he thinks that. Generally the answer is that it was never about Pride at all, but rather about his personal sensibilities.

"Explicit kink" is what you personally think is gross. This isn't about people with boot kinks because no one making these arguments thinks that wearing boots is cringe. But a guy with a boot kink at Pride wearing boots is getting exactly as much gratification as those guys in leather pup gear: none, because that's not how any of this works. They are not naked, either. People wear that much or less at the beach all the time.

This whole argument hinges on the idea that if you wear something that you think is sexy to a place that is meant to celebrate the type of sex that you have then you are engaging in a sexual act. This so obviously false and no one would ever accuse straight people of this in any situation, ever.
