Here's something fun, when you license something it's usually done via region. Very rarely will the original licensor be ok with giving you worldwide license. It's something that has to be paid for for every "region." It's very expensive to say the least. So the likelihood of solving the issue of regions is very unlikely. As for translation times, I can't speak for other companies, but usually staff gets shifted around and work on multiple projects. There's also specific deadlines either for the sake of production or for the sake of the license contract. The gap between light novels and manga is very large in terms of translation quantity and editing. Not to mention the localization aspect of it. I'm personally in for keeping things like honorifics in, but sometimes the licensor wants them removed. This can be for various reasons such as that licensor heard from another licensor that leaving in honorifics is very poor or lazy etc.

As for the no respect for fan translations part let me just chime in on that for a little since I don't want to drag the conversation around it. We can respect the fandom around it. But it's a double edged sword. For instance, its hard to say "yea sure you can leave volume 01 up!" but that does impact sales. Even worse and perhaps the most damaging is that the original japanese licensor knows they exist and if they point them out to us we, by the contract, have to try and do something. It's not that we hate them or we have the illusion that "As long as we take down one group, no one else will take up their work!" It's sometimes just a simple uhh, we have to do this for the sake of protecting sales or for the sake of the contract.
