I do what is required to remain employed and learn new things. I'm not gonna buy a unibomber ranch in Montana since I do like living adjacent to medium sized cities for the amenities. Stuff like buying things I don't need, following fashion trends, socializing instead of reading in public, having normal hobbies instead of tinkering with electronics and math, etc are things I ignore. I mean I'm fashionable to the extent that I wear situation appropriate clothing but nothing beyond that.

Besides, I can't help but wonder what sort of horrible stuff some of the people I pass have done. Most of us are going to pass rapists, murders, etc in our lives without even realizing it.
