Discovered a trust in my name left by grandparents, for £160,000. Need advice on how to handle

Nah, my relatives and I split the duties of clearing my grandparents house and they found a giant cache of documents in the process. There was a fair amount of stuff we hadn't been aware of. There were statements for huge amounts of money we had no knowledge of and panicked, so we called a number we eventually found on one of them.

After a fairly long process of evidencing they'd passed, and giving them our identification we had letters through. I don't have mine to hand but it basically says that after we called, confirmed our identities and provided evidence of grandparent's passing, here were 'the current portfolio valuations' for our trusts.

This was where we clocked what the documents were saying, there was mountains of statements, out of order and just not making sense as to what they were.

Before this they said they couldn't give us any details without confirming the situation, and who we were.

My cousins also have a similar amount in trusts held in their names.

I called the number again but no-one picked up, and I left a message asking them to call me back for some advice and background on these, as we'd not been made aware of the trusts existence.

I wasn't contacted before the call so they caught me at a really unfortunate moment at work where I couldn't give it as much time as I would have liked.

I'd written a list of questions in a notebook that I couldn't get to at that point. At the same time the person who called seemed weirdly intent on just confirming i'd received the letters, and then it sort of felt like they desperately wanted to end the call.

I basically ended it by saying, I've received letters that confirm that you've been updated and will speak to us if we approach you. We've also received statements, and are aware the trusts can continue to be managed for 80 years, or the funds withdrawn by contacting them at any point.

However because no documents were left by our grandparents, and we never had conversations with them about this, we have no knowledge of how or when this was set up.

Our grandparents were not hard up, but we were just completely blown away that they were able to do something like this for us and we wanted to know more about how the trust was started.
