Discovery is not Star Trek

Yes really. For one thing it wasn't even the first interracial kiss. If you believe somehow that kiss led the way to some kind of racial equality in the USA then you need to wake the fuck up.

One of the lead actors of this has just told racist "fans" to "go fuck themselves" nearly 49 years to the day later. That's how much star trek achieved there.

Similarly for the Russian. Have you been asleep recently?

These aren't debates. You should go to your library and ask about the books they have and read some philosophy on ethics, morality and so on. Or study some actual science or maths.

These subjects are difficult and complex and require years of study and thought before any kind of profound insight can be made.

Whereas anyone can sit and watch star trek. If you sat there watching a man kissing a woman and decided "Ooh then it must be ok I suppose" then you can't have thought about it much. To be fair, many people behave like this, but don't try and delude yourself that star trek was something it wasn't.

And it's depiction of the world in things like TNG are just ridiculous - again a 12 year old would just see it as a trite farce. Even /r/futorology, a subreddit full of halfwits have put more effort into their delusionary view of the future than TNG depicts. It's feel good TV, that's all. "Wouldn't it be nice if the world were like this" - except it wouldn't be nice at all. The world star trek depicts is abhorrent. If you think otherwise then you haven't thought about it.

Being sold on it is as naive as the religious buffoons were on getting 'eternal life' - it's probably the worst thing you could wish on anyone but they lapped it up like sheep.

America is not just racist, it's racism is systemic - and that includes the production of TV programmes. i.e star trek didn't even do a great deal to improve equality in the business that created it, let alone in the art itself - and that's the the thing to think about - not the fantasy on the screen the actors are playing out, but the actual reality for the actors et al.
